Smart self-monitoring for maximum operational safety

Electronic components in industrial measuring devices are subject to natural ageing effects due to physical and chemical processes. Their influence over time depends strongly on the operating temperature and temperature variations. Under harsh industrial conditions with high and changing temperatures, this can affect the measuring accuracy and long-term stability of precision devices.

To minimize this risk, KELLER ITS has equipped the new generation of the CellaTemp® PK series with a smart innovation: the vitality indicator.

The vitality indicator permanently displays the ageing status of the pyrometer.


Inspired by SMART technology

This function is similar to the well-known SMART technology (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) used in hard drives. There, sensors and firmware continuously monitor operating parameters in order to detect wear or defects at an early stage and signal a possible failure.

Such self-monitoring technology is also integrated in the new CellaTemp® PK pyrometers. The vitality indicator permanently collects relevant operating data and analyzes the appliance status depending on the temperature and duration of use. The current status can be read directly from the pyrometer at any time or analyzed by the system controller via the digital IO-Link interface. The pyrometer automatically signals the optimum time for a check or calibration (between 2 and 25 years, depending on the operating conditions).
